St. John Fisher pitcher Lindsey Thayer retired the final 13 St. Thomas batters and tossed a two-hitter to defeat the 12th-ranked Tommies 2-0 Friday and eliminate them from the College World Series.
Despite a seventh-inning comeback led by catcher Chase Shortly’s RBI single, the ninth-ranked Emory University Eagles defeated 12th-ranked St. Thomas 3-2 in the first round of the College World Series Thursday.
