Public Safety briefs

On Jan. 15, 2012 at 7:30 a.m., Public Safety reported property damage on the MacPhail Building on the Minneapolis Campus. Blue paint graffiti was found on the exterior of a ground floor door of the building.

On Jan. 17, 2013 at 5:07 p.m., Public Safety responded to a suspicious person in McCarthy Gym. An individual, reported as wandering around the gym and men’s locker room, was later determined to be a St. Thomas employee who wished to use the gym.

On Jan. 17, 2013 at 5:22 p.m., Public Safety documented a fire in Owens Science Hall. A small fire, that a student started as he sterilized a beaker, was quickly extinguished without causing injury or damage.  PublicSafety_Briefs_PHOTO

On Jan. 17, 2013 at 8:45 p.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to an odor of marijuana in 2151 Grand Ave. A St. Thomas student, who fainted and was assisted by St. Paul Fire Department Medics, was found in possession of related paraphernalia, but no marijuana.

On Jan. 18, 2013 at 12:18 a.m., Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Grace Residence Hall. An underage St. Thomas student, who was belligerent with staff, was found to have consumed and was in possession of alcohol.

On Jan. 18, 2013 at 2:13 a.m., Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the Upper Quad. An underage student, engaged in a verbal altercation with unidentified persons who fled on foot upon officers’ arrival, was found to have consumed alcohol.

On Jan. 18, 2013 at 10:45 a.m., Public Safety documented a forced entry burglary at an off campus location in St. Paul. A university employee reported a St. Thomas issued laptop was stolen from his residence.

On Jan. 19, 2013 at 4:21 p.m., Public Safety documented property damage at 2166 Summit Ave. A St. Thomas student reported a section of fence blew over due to high winds.

On Jan. 19, 2013 at 7:29 p.m., Public Safety documented damage to property in Brady Educational Center. Ceiling tile in a first floor room appeared to be damaged as a result of an old water leak.

On Jan. 21, 2013 at 2:09 p.m., Public Safety and the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to a waterflow alarm in Terrence Murphy Hall. A burst pipe flooded a lower level office area and damaged several ceiling tiles, carpeting, a St. Thomas computer and other university property.

On Jan. 21, 2013 at 8:44 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Morrison R2 Ramp. A St. Thomas student’s parked vehicle was found unsecured with a door open, but it was unknown if any property was missing and no damage was apparent.

On Jan. 21, 2013 at 10:35 p.m., Public Safety reported property damage in Anderson Student Center. A lower level door was determined to have been damaged as a result of St. Thomas staff striking the door with a heavily weighted cart while moving items.

On Jan. 22, 2013 at 9:21 p.m., Public Safety reported property damage in the MacPhail Building. The interior and exterior of a second floor window pane was found damaged.

On Jan. 23, 2013 at 6:11 a.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity outside of Ireland Residence Hall. A window screen was recovered from the east side of Ireland Hall and secured as found property inventory.

On Jan. 23, 2013 at 7:28 a.m., Public Safety documented a medical near Aquinas Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported she slipped on ice outside of Aquinas, landing on her arm and hip, but did not require any further medical attention.

On Jan. 23, 2013 at 10:17 p.m., Public Safety reported a policy violation in Morrison Hall. Two St. Thomas students, who caused a full building fire alarm by overcooking food, knowingly failed to evacuate the building during the alarm.

On Jan. 24, 2013 at 10:36 p.m., Public Safety responded to public urination on the 2100 block of Summit Avenue. A St. Thomas student urinating on the Summit Avenue boulevard was identified by officers and sent on his way.

On Jan. 25, 2013 at 3:36 p.m., Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire and Police Department responded to a two car accident at Summit and Cleveland avenues. A non-St. Thomas individual was cited for failing to stop and a university employee was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

On Jan. 27, 2013 at 12:35 a.m., Public Safety responded to a liquor law violation in Ireland Residence Hall. An underage, intoxicated non-St. Thomas affiliated individual was sent off campus with a parent.
