Stephanie McCartan, mechanical engineering major, 3.48 GPA

McCartan is from Waukesha, Wis. She is a member of the women’s soccer team, Omicron Delta Kappa fraternity, the Society of Women Engineers and the Ski and Snowboard club. McCartan also works on campus as an engineering research assistant and previously worked with the St. Thomas Child Development Center.

McCartan was voted an All-MIAC soccer player after the 2013 season, and she said the dedication and work she put into the team has been one of her greatest achievements at St. Thomas. She considers her study abroad experiences in Hawaii and Italy her favorite memories during her college career.

During her freshman year, McCartan almost decided to go to art school. Although she stuck with St. Thomas, she said art is still a large part of her life, and she draws portraits for recreation.

McCartan said she intends to pursue further education in engineering, but she is in the process of deciding whether she wants to find a job in the field first or not.
