The student who collapsed in Scooter’s Friday night is still at Regions Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The student has been identified as 21-year-old Gauthier Biyanga Mubwa, a second-semester student and native of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He collapsed during the African Voice event sponsored by African Nations Student Association. Mubwa is majoring in International Business and is a student worker in the Grill.

Public Safety performed CPR on the student Friday while waiting for the St. Paul Fire paramedics, according to Michael Barrett, manager of investigations. The paramedics then performed CPR and transported the student to the hospital, Barrett said.

A gathering will be held today in Murray-Herrick room 304 at 7 p.m. for his friends to get updates about his condition and to pray for his recovery.
