Attorney releases names of 8 accused priests

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Plaintiff’s attorney Jeff Anderson has released the names of eight priests from the Diocese of New Ulm whom he says have been “credibly accused” of molesting minors.

A St. Paul Pioneer Press report says only one of the men is thought to be alive. Six of the eight names had been previously released through lawsuits.

The Associated Press isn’t identifying the men because it wasn’t immediately clear whether they’d faced criminal charges.

Anderson released the names Monday evening. He got the names through a deposition his co-counsel conducted with Rev. Francis J. Garvey, who served on the diocese’s personnel board.

The diocese says it plans to respond with a statement Tuesday.
