Entrepreneurs target peers for twitter-based shoveling business

Juniors Dan Kettler, Willie Falk and Tanner Jensen use social media to accept service requests for their snow shoveling business, dubbed Tweet N’ Done.

Because St. Paul requires residents to shovel driveways and sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall, Kettler said the team thought targeting college students for their entrepreneurship project would be a good fit.

“We had to pick a target market and find out who/what people needed around campus,” Kettler said. “We decided that college students would be too lazy or just wouldn’t want to go out and do it so we decided it would be a good target market to reach out to.”

Entrepreneurship professor James Ebben said sending messages to a specific audience may be helpful for the business.

“There is some wisdom in really narrowing down your target market and getting the right message and the right avenues to reach that market,” Ebben said.
