Monday classes canceled, offices remain open

St. Thomas officials announced that the university canceled Monday’s January Term classes due to cold weather with wind chills forecasted to dip as low as minus 40 degrees.

Campus offices will remain open Monday; however, Susan Huber, executive vice president and provost, said employees can take a vacation day if they are not able to travel to work, according to a press release issued by the university.

Monday marks the second time in 2014 that weather has prompted St. Thomas officials to take action. The university canceled J-Term classes and closed on Monday, Jan. 6.

The University of Minnesota as well as many area public school districts, including St. Paul school district, have also canceled classes Monday. The University of Minnesota campus will remain open for all other business.
