Public Safety alerts St. Thomas community of armed robbery

Two St. Thomas students were victims of an armed robbery Sunday morning on the 1600 block of Iglehart Avenue, according to Public Safety.

A student told Public Safety that he and his roommate were walking home between 2:30 and 3 a.m. in an alley between Iglehart and Marshall Avenues when two armed assailants approached the students in an SUV.

Public Safety said one assailant had a shotgun and the other had a handgun. The two exited their car and demanded the students give them their personal property. The students say they handed over their phones and wallets, and the assailants left.

The victims described the assailants as men wearing dark-colored masks.

In a campus-wide email alert, Public Safety said that anyone with information should call the St. Paul Police Department at 651-291-1111.

Public Safety could not be immediately reached for comment.
