USG adds amendment, approves special request

Undergraduate Student Government added an amendment to its constitution and approved a special budget request from the Summit Singers at its April 6 meeting.

The amendment officially added the Student Spirituality Committee to the USG constitution. The committee was formerly mentioned only in Article One of the constitution, which stated that voting membership of USG would contain the Spirituality Committee chair. However, the committee was not mentioned anywhere else in the constitution.

Student Chair of the Spirituality Committee Adam Weinzetl said the amendment will help the committee connect with students.

“Basically the Spirituality Committee hasn’t been officially in the constitution for the past couple of versions,” Weinzetl said. “I think what it really accomplishes is it gives us a little bit of momentum moving forward.”

USG also approved a special request from the Summit Singers for $2,200 to help pay for lighting and advertising for the group’s two upcoming concerts.
