USG approves 2 clubs, elects 2 members

The St. Thomas Undergraduate Student Government approved two new clubs and elected two new members at its Oct. 5 meeting.

Sarah Schuler was elected and sworn in as Freshman Residential Senator and junior Zay Aden was chosen as Diversity Chair in a special election. Aden said she is happy to be part of USG.

“I am a transfer student, so I’m kind of new to this game,” Aden said. “I hope to bring all the other clubs together more and just kind of be more open with diversity and just kind of spread the word and just do as much as I can.”

USG also approved two new clubs, Leadership and Management and the Society of Hispanic and Professional Engineers. Student Organization Committee Chair Emily Punyko said both clubs will add to the St. Thomas community.

“They support the mission of St. Thomas. They’ve been working really hard since last spring to become a club,” Punyko said. “They’re very passionate about their clubs.”
