Vending machine damage, dorm nudity and rabbit rescue in this week’s public safety briefs

On Sept. 8 at 7:09 p.m. Public Safety documented a narcotics violation on the 800 block of Hennepin Avenue South where the Minneapolis Police Department reported two non-St. Thomas students were arrested for dealing narcotics.

On Sept. 11 at 1:39 a.m. Public Safety, Residence Life, St. Paul Police and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a welfare check in Flynn Hall where one St. Thomas student was transported to an area hospital for further medical attention.

On Sept. 11 at 2:30 a.m. Public Safety documented a burglary at the 2100 block of Selby Avenue where a St. Thomas student reported a known, unaffiliated suspect had broken into an off-campus residence and stole personal property.

On Sept. 11 at 8:47 p.m. Public Safety assisted a relative of a former St. Thomas student with a welfare check in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office. The former student had been reported missing for several days and was determined to not be enrolled at St. Thomas.

On Sept. 11 at 11:25 p.m. Public Safety reported suspicious activity outside of the O’Shaughnessy Stadium where an unidentified person was acting suspicious near the bike racks and was seen riding away on a bike.

On Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. Public Safety documented a robbery at the intersection of 8th Street north and Hennepin Avenue South. The Minneapolis Police Department reported that an unidentified victim was robbed by two unknown suspects.

On Sept. 11 at 5:27 a.m. Public Safety documented an aggravated assault at the intersection of 10th Street South and Hennepin Avenue South.

On Sept. 12 at 3:15 p.m. Public Safety documented a theft outside of the Summit Classroom Building. A St. Thomas student reported his secured bike was stolen from the bike rack.

On Sept. 12 at 7 a.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student was investigated for a code of conduct violation.

On Sept. 13 at 11:40 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Animal Control assisted an injured rabbit outside of Dowling Residence Hall and had taken the rabbit to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

On Sept. 13 at 5:25 p.m. Public Safety reported suspicious activity in LOT C and a piece of drug paraphernalia was found in the bushes.

On Sept. 14 at 2:35 p.m. Public Safety reported a medical incident in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas employee, who injured their wrist during a training, was assisted by officers and drove to a nearby hospital for further care.

On Sept. 14 at 9:46 p.m. Public Safety documented an assault at the corner of 11th Street South and Harmon Place. A St. Thomas student reported an unidentified suspect asked for money and food, then patted down and shoved the student against a wall when the student did not have anything.

On Sept. 15 at 9:02 p.m. Public Safety documented criminal damage to property in Murray Herrick after a St. Thomas employee reported the glass pane of a vending machine had been smashed.

On Sept. 15 at 9:48 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Dowling Residence Hall. Nine underage St. Thomas students were found to have consumed alcohol, including one student who was sent off-campus with a parent.

On Sept. 16 at 12:35 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a suspicious activity call in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage male St. Thomas student was seen naked in the building and was found in an underage St. Thomas student’s room. Both were found to have consumed alcohol.

On Sept. 16 at 11:45 p.m. Public Safety documented an arrest on the 1900 block of Iglehart Avenue where the St. Paul Police Department reported a St. Thomas student was charged with obstruction of legal process and underage consumption and transported to jail.

On Sept. 17 at 1:34 a.m. Public Safety responded to a liquor law violation in Brady Residence Hall where one St. Thomas student was found to have consumed alcohol and another underage student was found in possession of alcohol.

On Sept. 17 at 8:28 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a drug law violation in Morrison Hall where one St. Thomas student was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.

On Sept. 17 at 9:04 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Cretin Residence Hall where six underage St. Thomas students were found to have consumed alcohol.

On Sept. 17 at 10:29 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Morrison Hall where one underage St. Thomas student and three other unaffiliated guests were found to have consumed alcohol.

On Sept. 17 at 11:22 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department medic responded to a medical call in Brady Residence Hall where one underage St. Thomas student who was significantly intoxicated was transported to an area hospital.
