A false report of a gunman at Saint Paul College that resulted in a campus lockdown and a building evacuation has resulted in charges.

On Sept. 23, TommieMedia reported an alleged gunman was on the St. Paul College campus. City Attorney John Choi charged 42-year-old Charleeta Brown with falsely reporting a crime. Choi says the woman’s actions are “akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater.”

More than 40 police officers responded after Brown reported seeing an armed man in an elevator who was upset about his financial aid.

St. Paul police sent SWAT officers to the college and cleared the building while they searched for a suspect.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
