St. Thomas leads Carleton scoreless at half

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Quarterback John Gould tossed three touchdowns in the St. Thomas football team’s halftime shutout of Carleton Saturday at Laird Stadium.

The Tommies scored on all seven possessions, leading to a 49-0 halftime score.

The Tommies were working in threes in the first half.

Gould started the game off by throwing three touchdown passes to jump out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter. Gould completed to tight ends Charlie Dowdle and Cole Kelly and wide receiver Ryan Bradley for the touchdowns.

The Tommie defense did its part, recovering three fumbles, including one on its own goal line to prevent a Carleton touchdown just before the half.

Three running backs – Jack Kaiser, Nick Waldvogel and Brenton Braddock – ran for the Tommies’ other four touchdowns in the half.
