Tommie Spotlight: Tommy Hannon

Redshirt senior Tommy Hannon has been a consistent presence in the paint for the St. Thomas men’s basketball team for five years.

“From the get go when we got him, he’s got a motor that just doesn’t stop,” coach John Tauer said.

During Hannon’s career, the Tommies are 81-10 and five MIAC Championships richer.

Hannon surpassed 1,000 career points Sunday and is the eighth Tommie to accomplish this milestone. However, setting records is not as important to him as the team’s success.

“That’s our goal to have eight more games and get to the national championship game,” Hannon said. “It wouldn’t be cool to score 1,000 points and lose in the first round.”

Hannon said he wants to end his career only one way, winning a second national championship.

St. Thomas will learn its fate Monday when the NCAA Division III men’s basketball bracket is announced.
