This spring, The View celebrates its one-year anniversary in the Anderson Student Center.

In that year, the eatery surpassed expectations, expanding its business far beyond that of the old cafeteria.

Flex and eXpress purchases have increased from 5,200 swipes during the 2011 spring semester to 17,300 swipes during the 2012 spring semester. Cash sales have increased from 500 in spring 2011 to 4,100 sales in spring 2012.

Executive Chef Kenneth Grogg said The View’s success is mostly due to more opportunities for increased variety that come with a new expanded location.

Grogg said simply having more space allows for more food choices and the new atmosphere makes the food more appealing than in the old cafeteria.

The View brings variety to students by using a precise and standardized process of ordering, delivering, cooking and serving food. By employing about 12 full-time cooks and numerous student workers, the kitchen serves many different foods by the palette.
