Defense leads Tommies to 19-0 halftime lead against Eureka

The St. Thomas defense held Eureka to minus 4-yards rushing in first half at O’Shaughnessy Stadium, helping the team to a19-0 lead over Eureka.

Eureka running back Leanthony Reasnover, who is the second leading-rusher in Division III with 1834 yards on the season, was held to minus 5-yards on nine carries.

St. Thomas safety Isaac Seering intercepted a Red Devil pass late in the second half to keep the first-half shutout intact.

Perra and the offense got off to a slow start in the first quarter scoring only six points. The Tommies got it going in second quarter after wide receiver Tom Loeffler hurdled a Red Devil defender and found the endzone.

Josh Parks scored on a 16-yard run with under five minutes left in the half to give the Tommies a 19-0 lead.

This is the Tommies seventh playoff appearance in eight seasons, and Eureka’s first NCAA playoff appearance in program history.
