Freshman midfielder Nick Rapisarda scored two second-half goals to lead the Tommies (1-1-1 MIAC, 5-4-1 overall) to a 2-0 victory over the Johnnies (1-1-2 MIAC, 2-3-3 overall) Tuesday afternoon.

The first half of the game was scoreless as both teams had strong defensive play.

“St.Thomas and St. John’s have always been competitive, I’m just glad that intensity and anticipation has carried over to the soccer games,” said sophomore defender Thomas Metzler.

Rapisarda’s first goal was assisted by Elliot Amundson. His second was a shot from the far corner after he stole the ball from a Johnnie defender.

”I’m really looking forward to our team coming together and showing what we really can do,” said senior goalkeeper Alexander Benson. “We are coming up on a streak of really big games, and I think we are starting to get into our rhythm now.”

The team will play the Hamline Pipers at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hamline.
