No-shave November for breast cancer awareness

The second floor of Ireland Hall is making a small sacrifice this November.

Sophomore Resident Adviser Tony Guidotti challenged his floor to go the entire month without shaving to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

“Service can certainly be a small self-sacrifice. I might not be able to grow much, but I don’t like it, the little bit I do have,” Guidotti said. “But there’s plenty of people that can grow the big manes and that’s quite a lot of discomfort. But it’s to show people that small sacrifice they can make can lead to changing lives in many people.”

Guidotti also encouraged the entire campus not to shave by creating a Facebook event. More than 250 students said they were participating, including some women.

“If it wasn’t to raise money for breast cancer, I definitely wouldn’t be doing it,” sophomore Carly Boehm said. “I’m sure there are a lot of other girls that would agree with me on that.”

Other students agree that women should be included.

“It shouldn’t be secluded to one sex. I think we should be all-inclusive,“ freshman Kyle Gikling said.

Guidotti said he will not know how much money is raised because the money is donated directly to the Living Beyond Charity website.

  1. This is BEYOND ridiculous. What a noble sacrifice you are all making. I’m sure it really stings.

  2. Wow, Carla….do you always take issue with seemingly innocent fundraisers?
Or…maybe you’d rather they not raise the money for breast cancer….?
