Women’s soccer advances in playoffs with 1-0 victory

The St. Thomas women’s soccer team (7-3-1 MIAC, 13-3-3 overall) defeated Wartburg  College (Iowa) (4-1-3 IIAC, 11-5-4 overall) in La Crosse Saturday 1-0 in the opening round of the NCAA playoffs.

Tommie forward Brielle Bierman scored the only goal of the day coming in the 14th minute.

St. Thomas had eight shots on goal and held Wis.-La Crosse to only two.

The Tommies advance to take on host Wis.-La Crosse Sunday at 2 p.m.

Wis.-La Crosse is 18-1-3 overall has not lost a home game all season. The team is averaging just under three goals per game.
