St. Thomas Office of Admissions expects 1,200 students and their families to attend Fall Tommie Days Thursday and Friday.

The first group of students arrived Thursday morning and participated in campus tours. They also attended informational meetings about student life, finances, studying abroad and various departments.

The academic and activities fair was held later in the day in the field house of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex.

Students talk about campus

The seniors have not all been accepted to St. Thomas or decided to attend St. Thomas yet, but they spent their first day of MEA break exploring what the university has to offer.

“So far I really like it,” said Allee Schaeffer, a senior from Rogers High School. “The first time I visited I went home and was like, ‘I know where I want to go to college,’ but now I have to take my visit more seriously and focus on my academic options.”

Schaeffer plans to major in biology and spent Thursday looking into the program.

Some students are undecided about attending St. Thomas. Zach Fremder, a senior from Bloomington Kennedy High School, said he might enroll.

“There are a lot of students here that I know and it is close to where I live,” Fremder said.

He’s applied to other schools, but said St. Thomas is in his top three.
