Hundreds of high schoolers visit campus

The Admissions Office expects about 1,000 campus visitors for Fall Tommie Days Thursday and Friday.

Thousands of Minnesota high school students are dismissed from classes during the MEA weekend break. Many of them use the break to visit college campuses, including St. Thomas, where Fall Tommie Days is admissions’ biggest fall recruiting event.

Angie Hertel, assistant director of admissions, said the visitor numbers for this year’s Fall Tommie Days are “slightly down” from last year, but adds students are starting to make college visits earlier in their high school career.

Meanwhile, noticeably more students toured campus today, and admissions said it was “too swamped” to comment about the increased activity.
