Public Safety briefs – Feb. 19, 2016

On Feb. 10 at 4:00 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a full building alarm in Morrison Hall. The cause of the alarm was determined to be an unattended pizza left cooking in an oven in a fourth floor kitchen.

On Feb. 10 at 9:51 a.m. Public Safety responded to suspicious activity in Terrence Murphy Hall. An unidentified individual, who caused a disturbance in Food For Thought, left campus upon being approached by officers.

On Feb. 10 at 11:26 a.m. Public Safety documented a suspicious incident in the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. A student’s report of an unidentified person who possibly matched a description in a previous incident could not be verified upon officers’ check of the area.

On Feb. 11 at 9:58 a.m. Public Safety documented a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Finn Avenue. The back of a St. Thomas shuttle clipped the front driver’s side of a student’s vehicle, damaging both vehicles but causing no injuries.

On Feb. 11 at 9:23 p.m. Public Safety and Residence Life responded to an odor of marijuana in Grace Residence Hall. An underage student was found in possession of alcohol, marijuana and related paraphernalia.

On Feb. 11 at 10:54 p.m. Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a disturbance in Morrison Hall. An underage student consumed and possessed alcohol, marijuana and related paraphernalia; a second student consumed alcohol and a third possessed alcohol.

On Feb. 11 at 11:37 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with an odor of marijuana in Murray Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was found in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

On Feb. 12 at 12:08 a.m. Public Safety reported a policy violation in Dowling Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student was found in possession of a fake ID.

On Feb. 12 at 2:26 a.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in Brady Residence Hall. A guest of a St. Thomas student, who had cut his chin, was assisted by officers and taken by a friend to seek additional medical attention at an area hospital.

On Feb. 12 at 2:27 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with an intoxicated student in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student was sent home with a family member.

On Feb. 12 at 12:48 p.m. Public Safety reported a vehicle accident at Grand and Cleveland avenues. Two non-St. Thomas affiliated people collided in the intersection, causing significant damage to both vehicles but no injuries.

On Feb. 13 at 12:03 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in John Paul II Residence Hall. Four underage St. Thomas students and two guests were found to have consumed and possessed alcohol.

On Feb. 13 at 3:08 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 300 block of Wilder Street. A St. Thomas student reported that an unidentified individual had been banging on the door to her off-campus residence.

On Feb. 13 at 5:14 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a robbery at Summit Avenue and Wilder Street. A non-St. Thomas affiliated individual reported he was robbed at knifepoint by an unknown suspect.

On Feb. 13 at 10:23 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Dowling Residence Hall. Four underage students and one underage guest were found to have consumed and possessed alcohol.

On Feb. 14 at 12:17 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Ireland Residence Hall. One underage student was found to have consumed alcohol and an intoxicated underage non-affiliated person was sent home with a parent.

On Feb. 14 at 1:48 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life responded with an intoxicated person in Ireland Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated student, who possessed alcohol, marijuana and related paraphernalia, was sent home with a parent.

On Feb. 14 at 2:14 a.m. Public Safety documented a theft in Brady Residence Hall. A fire extinguisher was stolen from the fourth floor of Brady Residence Hall.

On Feb. 14 at 10:20 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with an odor of marijuana in Brady Residence Hall. Four St. Thomas student were found to have used and possessed marijuana and related paraphernalia.

On Feb. 15 at 2:25 a.m. Public Safety reported a liquor law violation in Dowling Residence Hall. Two underage students were found in possession of alcohol.

On Feb. 16 at 11:44 a.m. Public Safety responded to a suspicious person at Murray-Herrick Campus Center. An employee reported that a non-affiliated person, later escorted off-campus by officers, was behaving strangely and reported to be propositioning students.

On Feb. 16 at 2:45 p.m. Public Safety assisted a St. Thomas employee in the Morrison Hall Public Safety Office, regarding a suspicious incident that occurred in California.

On Feb. 16 at 6:41 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Fire Department responded to a suspicious odor in Flynn Residence Hall. An odor of natural gas appeared to have been as a result of an extinguished pilot light in first floor lobby fireplace.
