Public Safety Briefs: Sept. 1 – Sept. 16

On September 1 at 2:00 a.m. Public Safety responded to a welfare check in Morrison Hall. A parent of a St. Thomas student reported an unexpected phone call in the early hours of the morning.

On September 1 at 11:15 p.m. Public Safety documented a traffic collision on the 2000 block of Selby Avenue. A St. Thomas employee operating a university vehicle reported striking a side mirror on an unoccupied vehicle parked in the area, causing no damage.

On September 1 at 12:00 a.m. Public Safety documented a disturbance on the 90 block of North Cleveland Avenue. An anonymous report identified large gatherings and underage drinking at a house in the area.

On September 1 at 6:00 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Graffiti found on a bathroom stall in the building was determined to have previously been reported.

On September 2 at 1:05 p.m. Public Safety reported property damage in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Significant water damage over a window was found in a room in the building.

On September 2 at 11:59 a.m. Public Safety documented a traffic collision in the alleyway north of Minneapolis Opus Hall. A Fair School employee reported a white box truck may have struck the side of an unoccupied vehicle parked in the area.

On September 2 at 3:16 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity on Cretin Avenue. A St. Thomas employee found a single live rifle cartridge in the north crosswalk at the intersection with Grand Avenue.

On September 2 at 8:29 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage in Anderson Student Center. A glass panel on the main staircase broke due to unexplained reasons.

On September 2 at 9:54 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 200 block of Cretin Avenue. A university neighbor reported loud music coming from a house in the area.

On September 2 at 10:57 p.m. Public Safety responded to a welfare check in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student posted social media messages about suicidal ideation.

On September 2 at 9:55 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. A crash bar on an exterior door was found broken.

On September 2 at 12:15 a.m. Public Safety responded to suspicious activity in Terrence Murphy Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported an unidentified person gave untruthful reasons for being on a floor in the building.

On September 3 at 3:25 p.m. Public Safety responded to a suspicious person on Selby Avenue. Several unidentified people reported a person later identified as a St. Thomas student yelled obscenities at them while walking in the area.

On September 3 at 4:20 p.m. Public Safety documented property damage off campus. A window was intentionally broken on a motor vehicle owned by a St. Thomas alumnus in a parking lot near Summit Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard, personal property was stolen from inside, and financial transaction cards were subsequently fraudulently used.

On September 3 at 8:10 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 1800 block of Iglehart Avenue. A university neighbor reported people in a house not wearing masks or social distancing.

On September 4 12:05 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2100 block of Grand Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported a loud party coming from an apartment building in the area.

On September 4 at 11:20 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Murray Residence Hall. Two underage St. Thomas students and six guests unlawfully possessed and consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 4 at 11:47 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2000 block of Marshall Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported noise coming from the southwest corner of Cleveland and Marshall Avenues.

On September 4 at 6:00 p.m. Public Safety documented a complaint that originated on the 2000 block of Berkeley Avenue.

On September 5 at 12:36 a.m. Public Safety responded to a liquor law violation in Tommie North Hall. An underage St. Thomas student unlawfully consumed and possessed alcoholic beverages.

On September 5 at 12:55 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity at an unknown off campus location. A St. Thomas student reported concerns about an estranged parent.

On September 5 at 4:48 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 60 block of Finn Street South. A university neighbor reported loud music in the backyard of a house in the area.

On September 5 at 8:36 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a suspicious odor in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student unlawfully used and possessed a small amount of marijuana.

On September 5 at 10:20 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Brady Residence Hall. An underage St. Thomas student unlawfully consumed and possessed alcoholic beverages, and an underage St. Thomas student unlawfully possessed alcoholic beverages.

On September 5 at 10:22 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a disturbance in Tommie North Hall. Five underage St. Thomas students and one underage guest unlawfully consumed and possessed alcoholic beverages.

On September 6 at 12:30 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 50 block of Cleveland Avenue South. A university neighbor reported a loud party in the backyard of a house in the area.

On September 6 at 1:56 p.m. Public Safety documented a medical in Ireland Residence Hall.

On September 6 ay 2:09 p.m. Public Safety documented a medical in the lower quad. A St. Thomas employee tripped after exiting John Roach Center for the Liberal Arts, injuring a shoulder, wrist, knee and foot.

On September 7 at 2:16 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics assisted Residence Life with a medical in Dowling Residence Hall. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student was found vomiting in the building.

On September 7 at 9:44 p.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical on campus. An underage intoxicated St. Thomas student fell on a curb near the east entrance to Iverson Center of Faith, sustaining multiple injuries.

On September 7 at 10:19 p.m. Public Safety responded to a neighborhood complaint near the intersection of Dayton Avenue and Finn Street . A university neighbor reported a large gathering on the street in the area.

On September 7 at 11:33 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Lot A. An unidentified person reported a large group of people making noise in the area.

On September 8 at 12:09 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with suspicious activity in Brady Residence Hall. An unattended alcoholic beverage can and an unknown substance were found in a restroom in the building.

On September 8 at 8:39 a.m. Public Safety Responded to an attempted theft on campus. An unknown person tampered with a motor vehicle near Anderson Student Center, and attempted to steal a bicycle locked to a bike rack between O’Shaughnessy Stadium and Anderson Student Center.

On September 8 at 12:01 p.m. Public Safety responded to a medical on the 2000 block on Summit Avenue. A St. Thomas student sustained a laceration after accidentally cutting a thumb with a knife.

On September 8 at 4:47 p.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in the lower quad. A St. Thomas student sustained an ankle injury after falling while longboarding in the area.

On September 8 at 5:10 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity at an unknown off-campus location. A former student sent a concerning email to a former mentor.

On September 8 at 5:10 p.m. Public Safety and the Title IX office documented sexual assault in an unkown residence hall on campus. A campus security authority reported a St. Thomas student disclosed being raped.

On September 8 at 10:53 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a disturbance in Tommie North. A St. Thomas student reported loud music and voices coming from a room in the building.

On September 9 at 1:02 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a medical in Tommie North Hall. A St. Thomas student was found on the floor in a restroom in the building with severe abdominal pain.

On September 9 at 8:57 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 1900 block of Portland Avenue. An anonymous complainant reported a large party at a house in the area.

On September 9 at 9:53 p.m. Public Safety and the Title IX office documented sexual assault off campus. A St. Thomas student disclosed being raped.

On September 10 at 12:18 p.m. Public Safety observed suspicious activity on campus. Occupants in a vehicle near Facilities and Design Center and Anderson Parking Facility were observed looking at and asking questions about scrap metal in the area.

On September 10 at 7:30 p.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in Tommie North Hall. A St. Thomas employee cut a finger while working in the Northsider.

On September 10 at 10:47 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Tommie North Hall. Nine underage St. Thomas students unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 11 at 12:17 a.m. Public Safety responded to a liquor law violation in Tommie North Hall. An underage St. Thomas student unlawfully possessed and consumed alcoholic beverages, and two underage St. Thomas students unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 11 at 12:57 a.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a liquor law violation in Tommie North Hall. Three underage St. Thomas students unlawfully possessed and consumed alcoholic beverages, and six underage St. Thomas students unlawfully consumed alcoholic beverages.

On September 11 at 1:17 p.m. Public Safety documented a suspicious incident on campus. A person not affiliated with St. Thomas found in a window well near Minneapolis School of Law was trespassed from university property.

On September 11 at 3:56 p.m. Public Safety responded to property damage in Lot Y. A water main in the area failed.

On September 11 at 5:40 p.m. Public Safety assisted the university with an investigation in Tommie North Hall.

On September 11 at 7:07 p.m. Public Safety addressed a complaint on campus.

On September 11 at 10:41 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2000 block of Grand Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported loud music coming from an apartment complex in the area.

On September 11 at 11:27 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 90 block of Cleveland Avenue. An unidentified person reported multiple people walking in front of a house in the area.

On September 12 at 3:08 a.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 2000 block of Marshall Avenue. A university neighbor reported a loud party in front of a house in the area.

On September 12 at 8:04 a.m. Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a welfare check in Tommie North Hall. A person not affiliated with St. Thomas reported a St. Thomas student with suicidal intention.

On September 12 at 1:47 p.m. Public Safety documented a traffic collision that reportedly occurred in Anderson Parking Facility. Video investigation into damage found on a vehicle owned by a St. Thomas student was determined not to have occurred in the area.

On September 12 at 2:12 p.m. Public Safety assisted Residence Life with a suspicious odor in Dowling Residence Hall. While investigating an odor of marijuana, an underage St. Thomas student was found to have unlawfully possessed alcoholic beverages.

On September 12 at 9:50 p.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity that occurred at an off-campus location. A St. Thomas student reported meeting a person not affiliated with St. Thomas at a retail business, who later sent a social media friend request and an electronic mail message.

On September 12 at 11:52 p.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2100 block of Selby Avenue. A university neighbor reported a large group drinking in front of a house in the area.

On September 12 at 11:58 p.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance on the 1800 block of Marshall Avenue. A university neighbor reported loud talking at a house in the area.

On September 13 at 12:12 a.m. Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a medical in Brady Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported having food poisoning.

On September 13 at 12:39 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 2000 block of Grand Avenue. A university neighbor reported a loud party at a house in the area.

On September 13 at 1:24 a.m. Public Safety responded to a disturbance in Lot A. Video investigation into a neighbor complaint of a loud party determined no one was in the area.

On September 13 at 1:31 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a disturbance on Cretin Avenue. A university neighbor reported several St. Thomas students talking loudly in the area near the Anderson Student Center turnaround.

On September 13 at 6:29 p.m. Public Safety documented a disturbance on the 2100 block of Selby Avenue. A St. Thomas student reports a group of people in the yard of a house in the area yelling at cars.

On September 13 at 7:55 p.m. Public Safety responded to a medical at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard. A St. Thomas student was injured after falling off a scooter.

On September 13 at 10:00 p.m. Public Safety determined suspicious activity on the 2000 block of Selby Avenue. A St. Thomas student reported that a person pounding on a door demanding to be let inside a house in the area turned out to be a friend.

On September 14 at 11:59 a.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity on the 2000 block of Portland Avenue. A motor vehicle owned by a St. Thomas student was tampered with.

On September 14 at 4:06 p.m. Public Safety and the Title IX office documented sexual coercion at an unknown off campus location. A campus security authority reported a student disclosed the incident.

On September 14 at 5:02 p.m. Public Safety documented a disturbance off campus. An anonymous person reported a large party was hosted by a St. Thomas student at an undisclosed location.

On September 14 at 7:51 p.m. Public Safety documented a theft on the 1900 block of Laurel Avenue. A garage was burglarized and a motor vehicle with ignition keys inside owned by a St. Thomas student was stolen, and a motor vehicle with ignition keys inside owned by a St. Thomas student was stolen from the property.

On September 15 at 8:35 a.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity on the 2000 block of Ashland Avenue. A person not affiliated with St. Thomas reported a suspicious encounter with a person in the area.

On September 15 at 9:53 a.m. Public Safety and St. Paul Fire Department medics responded to a medical on Summit Avenue. A St. Thomas employee suffered a medical emergency and was transported to an area hospital for advanced medical care.

On September 15 at 11:37 a.m. Public Safety assisted the St. Paul Police Department with suspicious activity on the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue. Personal property owned by a person not affiliated with St. Thomas discarded in an alleyway in the area contained diaries with entries about depression and self harm.

On September 15 at 2:55 p.m. Public Safety assisted the Stillwater Police Department with property found in that city. A university identification card in the name of a St. Thomas student was mailed for return of property.

On September 15 at 3:22 p.m. Public Safety responded to a medical in the lower quad. A St. Thomas student was stung by a bee while outside in the area.

On September 16 at 10:15 a.m. Public Safety assisted the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office in the Morrison Hall Public Safety office. A background investigation was conducted on a St. Thomas employee.

On September 16 at 10:53 a.m. Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department responded to a robbery of a person on the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue North. A St. Thomas student was robbed by an unknown suspect.

On September 16 at 11:14 a.m. Public Safety documented suspicious activity on campus. For the purposes of community safety, a records check was conducted on an unoccupied motor vehicle parked on campus several days in a row without a permit.

On September 16 at 1:25 p.m. Public Safety responded to theft on campus. A catalytic converter on a motor vehicle owned by a St. Thomas employee was stolen from a parking lot near the Development office.

On September 16 at 8:45 p.m. Public Safety assisted the Dean of Students office with a welfare check off-campus location. A St. Thomas student expressed suicidal ideation.
