Students turn their ‘swag on’ for Thursdays

Flynn Apartment Coordinator senior Muhdi Sharif turns on his swag every Thursday at St. Thomas.

Swag Thursday started when Sharif realized that dressing up makes you feel good not only on the outside.

“Every Thursday, I would dress up and then everyone would ask me ‘why are you dressed up?’ and I just replied ‘swag,’“ Sharif said. “It got to a point where it was swag Thursday and everyone would do it.”

Junior Mannie Cruceru is one of the 55 Swag Thursday Facebook group members. He believes it is about more than just dressing up.

“Swag Thursdays is a way to express yourself not only in a fashion sense, but showing others who you are, what you’re about,” Cruceru said.

Sharif also believes his Swag Thursday group is about something bigger.

“It’s a conversation starter,” Sharif said. “It’s something that brings up your day cause I feel like if you look good, you feel good.”
