Suspect arrested in sexual assault of St. Kate’s student

Minneapolis police have arrested a suspect in the sexual assault of a St. Catherine University student earlier this month.

Police said Thursday that Louis Richard Oliver, 48, was arrested Tuesday after security officers at Regions Hospital in St. Paul received a complaint that a suspicious man was approaching women near a parking area.

The man was detained and Ramsey County sheriff’s deputies helped to identify him as Oliver. Oliver bore a “striking resemblance” to the student’s assailant, who was the subject of a composite sketch released by police on Tuesday.

Oliver, who is also known as Terry Woods, was ultimately booked on suspicion of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and jailed in Hennepin County.

The student was assaulted Nov. 19 near West River Parkway and 27th Avenue South as she walked to the St. Catherine campus in St. Paul.

Oliver’s booking photograph was being withheld as the investigtaion continued.
