The men’s team placed eighth out of 38 teams in the men’s collegiate four bracket. Senior Kyle Smisek, senior Dima Koshevy, junior Brandon Deml and freshman Sean Kern rowed to a finish that guarantees St. Thomas a spot in the regatta next year. Junior Gina Dolski acted as the team’s coxswain.

The women’s team finished in 16th place out of 29 teams, a strong finish for its first year in the collegiate women’s four bracket. Junior Danielle Assie, sophomore Catherine Portman, and seniors Kristi Kruppiak and Maya Brandl raced for St. Thomas, with sophomore coxswain Kristen Lee leading the team in her first ever race at Charles course.

Both teams will compete this Sunday in the North Star Challenge, which takes place on the Mississippi River. The North Star Challenge is the final event for the season, with racing resuming next spring.
