Intramural football not just for men anymore

The popular student-run intramural football league is set to be back on campus this fall. Registration is open for the six-on-six two-hand-touch league, which will play its games at O’Shaughnessy stadium from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and even some Sundays.

The league is split into Monday/Wednesday, and Tuesday/Thursday divisions. Division winners will meet at the end of the season for the coveted title of intramural champion.

This year, in addition to the men’s league, a four-on-four coed league will be offered with its games to be held on Mondays. The league requires two women and two men to be on the field at all times.

Also, to literally kick off the intramural season, a field goal kicking contest will be held in O’Shaughnessy Stadium on Sept. 21.

The men’s league, coed league and field goal kicking contest are open to all St. Thomas students, faculty and staff who are not varsity or junior-varsity players. Marguerite Maginot and Allen Clark head the leagues, and registration forms are available in the athletic building at the cage or online for men’s league registration and for coed league registration.
