Women’s soccer heads to postseason play, men’s season ends

Saturday marked the beginning of the postseason for the St. Thomas women’s soccer team, and the end of the season for the men’s team.

The Tommie women’s team beat St. Mary’s 4-0 at home Saturday and will advance to the MIAC championships as the No. 3 seed.

Four different Tommies scored goals to give the program its seventh MIAC win and 11th season win.

St. Thomas will travel to Concordia-Moorhead Thursday to take on the two-seeded Cobbers (7-2-2 MIAC, 10-4-3 overall) in the MIAC semifinal round. Saturday’s victory marked the third straight year the Tommie women will make a trip to the MIAC playoffs.

The St. Thomas men’s team finished the season with a 3-1 win at St. Mary’s, but it wasn’t enough to push the team into the postseason. The men finished with a record of 2-5-2 in the MIAC and 6-8-3 overall.

The team finished eighth out of 11 teams in the MIAC.
