The Super Bowl is more than just a game. It’s an event.

Although Sunday may center around football, students also are excited about the festive foods, fun activities and humorous commercials.

“We’re going to have a bunch of friends over,” senior Trey Woodson said. “People are bringing chips. We have nachos. People are bringing pizzas. You name it, we’ll pretty much have it.”

Super Bowl XLV is set to take place in Dallas in the billion-dollar Cowboys’ Stadium. The game features two of the NFL’s most storied franchises: the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.

The two teams will be playing for the Vince Lombardi trophy, named after the legendary Packers head coach. The Packers have won the most championships in the history of the NFL, while the Steelers have won more Super Bowls than any other team.

With all the buzz surrounding Sunday’s game, students weighed in with their predictions.

“I think it’ll probably be a close game,” junior Sam Clark said. “I think if the Packers play well, they’ll definitely win.”

Other students will be rooting for the Steelers, or simply against the Packers.

“I’m a Vikings fan,” sophomore Tim Savre said. “I can’t root for the Packers.”
