The women’s hockey team lost 3-0 to non-conference opponent UW-Superior Tuesday night after giving up three goals in the second period.

The Tommies had 23 shots on goal but were held scoreless by the Yellowjackets at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.

“If you don’t score, you’re not going to win,” coach Tom Palkowski said. “We’re having a hard time getting the puck in the net right now.”

Junior goalie Nicole Muske stopped 27 shots in her first start in over a month but let in three goals in the second period.

“There are 60 minutes, and we’ve got to do the little things,” Palkowski said. “Right now we’re probably going 55 and making a few mistakes, and they’re cashing in.”

The team will return to conference play in a weekend series against Hamline. St. Thomas will host the Pipers at 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Thomas Ice Arena.

“We’re still in pretty good shape in the conference,” Palkowski said. “Now we have to get back to work.”
