Senior Lynn Lieser is no different. One of the last things on her mind is the upcoming 2010 census.
A giant claw started tearing down the walls of O’Shaughnessy Hall at 7:30 a.m. Thursday to make way for the new Anderson Student Center.
“We’ll pull the exterior walls down, expose the bearing structure, and start taking the structure down,” Construction Manager Jim Brummer said. “That will take about a week to complete and then they’ll start hauling out the debris, which will take about another week.”

With senior Steve Broszko to receive the Tommie Award March 6 at the St. Thomas Day celebration, TommieMedia sat down with Broszko to find out what winning the award meant to the thespian.
The Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex doesn’t open until August 2010, but TommieMedia was allowed inside Wednesday on a guided tour to check out the progress.
Athletic director Steve Fritz, who was on his fifth tour of the facility, said the new field house will be about twice as big as Coughlan Field House.
The African Nations Student Association, led by president Brian Osende, is putting together a Haiti benefit March 6 in the OEC auditorium complete with dancing and poetry readings.

The Tommie men’s hockey team needed overtime but was able to upset Hamline 5-4 Saturday night at Drake Arena.
St. Thomas junior forward Andrew Kappers scored the game-winning goal five minutes into the overtime period. Senior forward Alex Arnason assisted the goal, offering a pass into the slot and allowing Kappers to beat Piper goalie Beau Christian.
