Public Safety briefs

On March 15, 2013 at 12:53 a.m., Public Safety assisted Residence Life with responding to a liquor law violation in Ireland Residence Hall. Three underage St. Thomas students were found to have consumed alcohol and a fourth student consumed and possessed alcohol.

On March 15, 2013 at 8 a.m., Public Safety documented a medical that occurred on the Flynn Residence Hall turn around. A St. Thomas student reported she slipped and fell on ice and injured her back.

On March 15, 2013 at 5:42 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity at Flynn Residence Hall. A fire extinguisher, found on the roof of the first floor entryway, was secured as found property inventory.

On March 15, 2013 at 8:53 p.m., Public Safety reported property damage on the MacPhail Building. Marker graffiti was found on the southwest exterior door of the building.

On March 16, 2013 at 3:46 a.m., Public Safety documented an assault in Morrison Hall. A St. Thomas student reported he was assaulted at an off campus residence, but refused to identify the residence where the incident occurred.

On March 16, 2013 at 7:58 a.m., Public Safety assisted the St. Paul Police Department with a vehicle accident at Selby and Cretin avenues. Three vehicles collided at the intersection due to ice, causing significant damage to the vehicles, but no injuries.

On March 16, 2013 at 5:09 a.m., Public Safety documented a disturbance near Selby Avenue and Finn Street. A St. Thomas student reported four individuals were throwing snowballs at vehicles at the intersection and then fled into a nearby residence.

On March 16, 2013 at 8:30 p.m., Public Safety responded to an intoxicated individual at Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. An intoxicated St. Thomas student of legal drinking age was removed from an NCAA basketball game and sent home with a sober caregiver.

On March 16, 2013 at 11:52 p.m., Public Safety responded to a liquor law violation on the Lot B drive aisle. Three underage St. Thomas students consumed alcohol, one underage student possessed alcohol, and underage intoxicated guest was sent home with a sober caregiver.

On March 17, 2013 at 8:03 p.m., Public Safety documented a theft in Morrison Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported a second student, who she was formerly in a relationship with, got into an argument with her and stole a dress from her residence, which was later recovered by officers.

On March 18, 2013 at 9:40 a.m., Public Safety responded to a medical in Minneapolis School of Law. A St. Thomas employee who fell and hit her head was assisted by officers and declined further medical attention.

Between March 19 and March 20, Public Safety documented a theft in Minneapolis Opus Hall. A St. Thomas employee reported several prints were missing from a wall on the second floor of the Keffer Library.

On March 19, 2013 at 2:05 p.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Ireland Residence Hall. Postings for an unsanctioned event in Ireland, reported by a St. Thomas employee, were taken down.

On March 20, 2013 at 8:53 a.m., Public Safety documented property damage in Anderson Student Center. Physical Plant staff reported the garage door entrance to the student center garage had stopped working, which was later determined to be due to a mechanical error.  PublicSafety_Briefs_PHOTO

On March 20, 2013 at 2:02 p.m., Public Safety documented damage to property in Morrison Hall. A Physical Plant staff member reported a hole in the wall on the fourth floor landing of the east stairwell, which appeared to be a result of someone striking the wall.

On March 20, 2013 at 2:23 p.m., Public Safety documented property damage in Aquinas Hall. A second floor window was damaged when several St. Thomas students opened the window to access the top of the arches without authorization.

On March 20, 2013 at 6:42 p.m., Public Safety responded to a theft in Minneapolis School of Law. An unidentified suspect, who stole computer equipment from an unsecured fourth floor office suite, discarded the items outside of the School of Law and fled on foot upon pursuit by officers.

On March 21 and March 22, Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Flynn Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student reported finding vomit in the sink in her residence and did not know how it got there.

On March 21, 2013 at 3:17 a.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity in 2171 Grand Ave. A lewd message was found written on a nametag on the door of a St. Thomas student’s residence.

On March 21, 2013 at 11:56 a.m., Public Safety reported a policy violation in Brady Residence Hall. A St. Thomas student directed profanity at an employee during a full building fire alarm.

On March 22, 2013 at 8:13 a.m., Public Safety responded to a suspicious person in Terrence Murphy Hall. A non-St. Thomas affiliated individual sleeping on the second floor of the building was identified by officers and escorted off campus.

On March 22, 2013 at 5 p.m., Public Safety documented damage to property in Flynn Residence Hall. A clogged toilet caused water to leak from a second floor to a first floor residence, damaging a piece of personal property.

On March 23, 2013 at 8:02 a.m., Public Safety and Residence Life responded to a noise complaint at 2171 Grand Ave. A St. Thomas student playing music an excessive volume was advised of proper noise levels.

On March 23, 2013 at 9:34 a.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. A St. Thomas guest reported a phone, taken from his jacket and reported as stolen, was later recovered.

On March 24, 2013 between midnight and 9 a.m., Public Safety documented suspicious activity in Brady Residence Hall. A Residence Life staff member reported a bulletin board was rearranged to display an offensive message.

On March 25, 2013 at 5:59 a.m., Public Safety reported suspicious activity in Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas. An unidentified individual entered the chapel, then quickly exited and left the area on foot upon being observed by an officer.

On March 27, 2013 at 11:15 a.m., Public Safety reported criminal damage to property in Morrison Hall. The pool table in the fifth floor Morrison lounge was found with extensive damage to one of its legs, rendering the table unusable.
