Tommies’ trick play catches nation’s eye

The St. Thomas football team’s trick-play extra point against Carleton on Saturday has become a video highlight across the nation.

Media outlets, including ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports Network, Bleacher Report and the Star Tribune, have latched on to the highlight of Charlie Dowdle chucking a no-look, behind-the-back rainbow to Matt Christensen for a two-point conversion after the Tommies’ first touchdown of the game.

The highlight was part of an 80-3 victory over Carleton, which gave the Tommies a share of the MIAC title and their first conference crown since 2012.

St. Thomas travels to St. Peter, Minnesota, next weekend to play Gustavus in its final regular season game.
