As the academic year comes to a close, so do the three USG initiatives. USG conducted student surveys about a smoking ban on campus and worked to improve neighbor relations and transfer student experiences.

Are students being honest on course evaluations?

About 35 percent of students said they gave a “better-than-deserved” evaluation, while nearly 49 percent admitted to lying to make their instructor look worse, according to a 2010 University of Northern Iowa study.

Business majors study less than others, survey shows

More young adults moving back home with parents

Of men and women ages 18-24, 57 percent of men and 49 percent of women lived at home with their parents during 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. 

Fewer women in student government positions

Of the 50 colleges ranked highest by the U.S. News & World Report, less than a third of student presidents are women, according to The Washington Post. The trend exists at St. Thomas, too.

Students lobby legislators for state grant support at Day at the Capitol
