The Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex doesn’t open until August 2010, but TommieMedia was allowed inside Wednesday on a guided tour to check out the progress.

Solar panels finally atop Brady Hall

One year after a group of St. Thomas students envisioned placing solar panels atop Brady Hall, their wait is finally over.

Twenty solar panels, which are intended to reduce energy costs by $500 a year, were installed on the roof of the residence hall by late Wednesday evening.

Winter weather and questions about Brady’s structural stability delayed installation, which was planned for Dec. 19, according to junior David Hackworthy, who was a part of the student group.

Junior Marguerite Maginot used to be embarrassed to attend home football games.

“The team was terrible my freshman year,” she said. “We wouldn’t even stay to watch the whole game.”

But a turnaround from a 2-8 record in 2007 to now hosting a second round NCAA playoff game has changed fans like Maginot’s opinion of the team.
