Dance team ranked No. 1 in national prelims
It’s easy to think of St. Thomas teams that are competitive year in and year out. The basketball team has been at the top of the conference the past few years, as well as the baseball, softball and track teams.

In this week’s edition of ‘Connected.’, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops debates the amount of authority bishops have at Catholic colleges, students hold “die-in” to protest the School for Americas, more college graduates are entering the military, pigs chow down on left-over caf food, and the UST Dance Team will compete in national competition.

Students excited and indifferent over ‘New Moon’
As the opening for “New Moon” quickly approaches, reporter Zach Pagano found out which St. Thomas students are super psyched for another movie starring the dreamy werewolf Edward and also which students could just care less.
From your fork to the farm, where your leftovers go

Ostrue: The center of Tommie football success
All-American center Josh Ostrue has been instrumental in St. Thomas’ first nine win season since 1983.
His role in last year’s 7-3 record from a 2-8 mark in 2007 helped the senior receive the Rimington Award as the top center in Division III.

Students stage ‘die-in’ protesting School of the Americas
Students for Justice and Peace held a “die-in” in the Lower Quad Tuesday to silently protest the School of the Americas.
Can’t finish caf meal? These pigs will
The St. Thomas cafeteria produces nearly 5,000 meals each day. With the high number of people being served, it is common to see nearly 200 gallons of wasted food at the end of the day.
In an effort to become more sustainable, the cafeteria puts the wasted food to good use. Scraps from the cafeteria help feed nearly 3,000 pigs at a pig farm just north of Andover in St. Francis.

St. Thomas students in addition to Hamline and St. Kate’s particpants staged a “die-in” in the Lower Quad to protest the School of the Americas.

First play since theater dissolved opens Wednesday
For the first time since St. Thomas dissolved its theater department, students from St. Thomas and St. Catherine are set to take the stage.
Recycling a no-go for Naked juice bottles, Starbucks cups
Naked juice bottles and Starbucks coffee cups appear to be recyclable. But the containers cannot be tossed into recycling bins in the Twin Cities and that has been causing confusion for many.
