Several St. Thomas teams are preparing for important away games this weekend. The women’s basketball team will compete in the Sweet 16 in Chicago, and some track and field athletes will head to nationals in Grinnell, Iowa.

Senior pitcher Bryce Gapinski allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings of work to help the Tommies split a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse Monday night at the Metrodome.

Men’s hockey makes NCAA tournament

The St. Thomas baseball team started the 2012 season with two comeback wins in a doubleheader against St. Scholastica, kick-starting its pursuit for a 10th consecutive MIAC championship. Though the team is young this season, key players from the 2011 season return.

Men’s basketball team struggles to find rhythm, falls to Whitewater 91-62

The Tommies lose to the Whitewater Warhawks 91-62 after struggling offensively and defensively in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The loss ends the team’s season. 

Women’s basketball team heads to Sweet 16 after 51-45 victory over Coe College

The  St. Thomas women’s basketball team had a 51-45 victory over Coe (Iowa) College in the second round of the NCAA Division-III basketball playoffs at Steve Fritz Court Saturday night. 

Men’s basketball defeats C-M-S in OT, advances to second round

The St. Thomas men’s basketball team defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 76-74 in overtime  in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. 

Women’s basketball defeats Martin Luther College 71-58, advances to second round
