Baseball received at-large bid to NCAA tournament

The St. Thomas baseball team is set to compete in the NCAA tournament after receiving a bid Sunday night. This will be the team’s 19th appearance in 23 seasons.

Macalester second baseman Quentin Stuart hit a grand slam in the second inning to give the Scots a lead they would never relinquish as they hung on to defeat the St. Thomas baseball team 7-6 Friday in a MIAC tournament winner’s bracket game at Becker Park in Collegeville.

St. Thomas softball was selected as an at-large team in the NCAA DIII tournament and will travel to Pella, Iowa to take on 10th-ranked Central College in the opening round of the regionals, beginning Friday at 3:30 p.m.
