PULSE packs the house for first show of the year

PULSE’s first show of the year, “We are PULSE!,” packed the Brady Educational Center’s O’Shaughnessy auditorium Friday night. There were two shows, at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., to accommodate the crowds.

PULSE member junior Lora Young said the show was a great success.

“I thought the show went really well,” Young said. “I love performing in the PULSE shows. This year, PULSE is focusing on trying to get our name out there more to reach our goal of breaking stereotypes across campus.”

The show featured many types of dance including hip-hop, contemporary and Irish dance, as well as spoken word performances and singing. Young performed Lady Gaga’s acoustic version of “Poker Face” and junior Darrin Hall sang Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.”

Hall said PULSE wants all students to feel welcome to join the club and the members of the club can’t wait until the next performance.

“We want to promote health and well-being by dancing and giving people who have the ability to perform a chance to showcase their talents,” Hall said. “Every semester, the shows get better and better and I’m most excited to see how great the next show is going to be.”

Pulse’s first practice will be Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. For more details, contact Levi Ismail at isma3954@stthomas.edu or Jazz Hampton at hamp3437@stthomas.edu.
