Men’s soccer cruises to 3-0 win, advances to quarterfinals

CHICAGO– The St. Thomas men’s soccer team (21-1) eliminated Otterbein University (Ohio) (19-2) 3-0 Saturday in Chicago to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA playoffs.

Forward Shae Bottum opened up the scoring for the Tommies in the 10th minute when he scored his ninth goal of the season.

St. Thomas carried a 2-0 lead into the half after midfielder Will Kidd scored in the 29th minute.

Forward Christian Elliehausen scored the final goal for the Tommies in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.

St. Thomas advances to take on North Park (Il.) (19-1-1) tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.

North Park, who are hosting the quarterfinal matchup, defeated Washington & Lee (Va.) 3-0 Saturday.
