2016 Tommie Award Nominee: Michael Chmielewski

Michael Chmielewski, biochemistry major, 3.99 GPA

Michael Chmielewski

Chmielewski is from Duluth, Minnesota. On campus, he is a Cru leader, co-leader of worship band, biomedical physics research assistant and leader of the Nordic Ski Club.

As a Tommie, his greatest achievement has been reaching people with the Gospel and impacting their lives through his involvement with Cru. It has allowed him to connect with fellow believers of Christ. His theme song would be “When I Go Down” by Relient K because it speaks of the hope and purpose that Jesus gives to those who believe in Him.

He is passionate about the outdoor recreational activities that Minnesota offers, including road and mountain biking, canoeing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Chmielewski said his favorite memory from his time at St. Thomas was getting engaged to Alyssa Hess in the Hearth Room last February.

He plans on attending medical school at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in order to pursue his dream of becoming a physician.
