Hundreds packed the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex for a dedication ceremony Wednesday. Lee and Penny Anderson and other donors were recognized for their generous contributions at the ceremony.

The Andersons gave a $60 million gift to St. Thomas. It was the largest single donation for any Minnesota school. Lee Anderson spoke at Wednesday’s ceremony and said he is delighted with the way the building turned out.

“I’ve been in this building now a number of times, but every time I come in here, I’m blown away by it,” Anderson said. “Not that I didn’t expect to see these things, but each time I come, they’ve added something else.”

Anderson’s contributions have also been significant in the construction of the new Anderson Student Center, which will open in about 14 months.

Former Archbishop Harry Flynn closed the ceremony with a blessing for the building, and afterward there was a reception for everyone in attendance.
