Senior forward Grant Loven put up the lone goal for St. Thomas in a 4-1 loss to Big Ten opponent Penn State University in the second game of the two-game series Wednesday night at St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights.
Senior forward Spencer Zwiener’s empty net goal for the St. Thomas men’s hockey team, and Josh Maucieri’s goal with 2.3 seconds left in the third period sealed the deal for the Tommies win against Bethel on the road 5-1 Friday at the National Sports Center’s Super Rink.
In a back-and-forth battle, St. Thomas secured a 4-3 win against St. Mary’s thanks to senior forward Spencer Zwiener’s go-ahead goal, his second goal of the game, with just under five minutes left in the third period in the Tommies’ last home game as a Division III and MIAC member school.
