St. Thomas holds inaugural D-I National Signing Day

St. Thomas athletics welcomed 50 student athletes in its first class of Division I signees to sports other than football during the university’s first National Signing Day Wednesday, with more decisions expected in the coming days and weeks. Sports Editor Joey Swanson has the story.

COVID-19 UPDATE: St. Thomas positive cases skyrocket to 80; university enters “quiet period”

Eighty positive COVID-19 cases were reported last week by the University of St. Thomas’ Center for Well-Being Monday, the highest total recorded all year and a 58-case increase from the previous week. Two positive cases came from employees and 78 came from students; two of the 80 cases were from the Minneapolis campus.

Residential students get go-ahead to visit other residence halls

Former St. Thomas football player, coach, runs 160 miles for pancreatic cancer

Former St. Thomas football player and coach Mark Dowdle completed a 160-mile run in 43 hours from the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, Minnesota to St. Thomas’ O’Shaughnessy Stadium Sunday, with former teammate Blake Weber joining him for the final 58 miles, in an effort to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer. Bishop Mathias Loras, the namesake of Loras Hall on South Campus, was found to have enslaved a woman named Marie Louise for 16 years, President Julie Sullivan wrote in an email to the St. Thomas community Tuesday.

Public Safety alerts St. Thomas community of neighborhood robbery

A St. Thomas student was robbed by two suspects in an alley on the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue, according to an alert from Public Safety to the St. Thomas community Wednesday afternoon.
