Jury selection moved forward Thursday in the trial of a suburban Minneapolis police officer charged in Daunte Wright’s shooting death, with the 10th and 11th jurors seated ahead of opening statements next week.
A prosecutor said Wednesday that he will charge a white former suburban Minneapolis police officer with second-degree manslaughter for killing 20-year-old Black motorist Daunte Wright in a shooting that ignited days of unrest and clashes between protesters and police.
St. Thomas campus buildings and services closed at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in response to a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Minneapolis and St. Paul curfew prompted by protests after Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter fatally shot Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man; Potter resigned Tuesday along with Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon.
