Men’s hockey earns best win percentage in 12 years

The Tommies went 13-1-2 in the MIAC and claimed the regular season and playoff conference titles en route to a berth in the NCAA tournament.

Burnham finished second in the 60-meter hurdles and third in the 60-meter dash, while Dunne finished third in the heptathlon.

The Tommies finished the season with a 19-3 record in MIAC play and finished the regular season in a tie for second place in the MIAC.

Forward Courtney Umland’s two goals led the No. 6-ranked St. Thomas women’s hockey team to the D-III semifinal in a 5-0 victory Friday.

Men’s and women’s tennis, track and field and baseball were all in action this weekend.

In its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2003, the Tommies will play Wis.-Stevens Point in the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Tommies defeated Grand Valley State 12-8 Saturday night, who they won against two years ago in the national championship.

The Tommies will take on UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, March 15.

Forward Jordan Lovick’s laser of a wrist shot in the second period was the winning goal for the St. Thomas men’s hockey team Saturday night.

The St. Thomas women’s basketball team saw its season come to a close with a 87-78 loss to Wis.-Whitewater Saturday.

Augustana connected on 69 percent of their shots and repeatedly made clutch shots down the stretch en route to its 88-77 victory.

The Tommies overcame poor outside shooting with a dominant defensive performance to advance past the Loras College (19-9) Duhawks.

The Tommies, who went 41-7 last season, are also ranked No. 11 in the nation in the D-III preseason poll.
