2010 Tommie Award nominee: Kristy Elsen

Kristy ElsenKristy Elsen, leadership and management and business communications major

Elsen is from Champlin, Minn. Her leadership positions include working as the Flynn Hall operations manager, Residence Hall Association president, and Undergraduate Student Government RHA representative. She is on the National Residence Hall Honorary, Registrar Committee, Beverage Funds Committee and Judicial Hearing Board as a student representative.

Elsen’s honors include being named RHA member of the year in 2008 and the Midwest Affiliation of College and University Residence Hall Students’ Executive Board Member regional winner in 2009, and she received a Regional Bronze Pin Award.

Elsen said an interesting fact about herself is that she choreographs dances for high school teams as a hobby. As a freshman, Elsen wishes she had known “the first year of college doesn’t make or break the rest of your college experience. Each year brings different experiences, different people and new lessons learned. Exhausting your resources is what brings you to those new opportunities.”

After graduation, Elsen plans to attend a two-year graduate program “to earn a masters degree in College Student Personnel, while also working in a Student Affairs position.”
