2010 Tommie Award nominee: Sandra Moran

Sandy MoranSandra Moran, psychology major, 3.66 GPA

Moran is from Eden Prairie, Minn. Moran’s activities and positions at the university include STAR President, Board of Trustees student representative, orientation intern, University Lectures committee chair, Linkages mentor, Tutor-mentor, Tommie Ambassador, Tommie blogger, Academic Affairs student intern, Campus Life student worker, and working as an apartment coordinator for Flynn Residence Hall last year and Child Development Center Residence Hall this year.

Moran also participated in the Hawaii J-term service learning class.

Moran is a Dease Scholar and McNair Scholar. She has made the Dean’s List and is in the Psi Chi national honor society for psychology. She has presented research at Claremont Graduate University and the Society of Research in Child Development in Montreal, Quebec.

An interesting fact about Moran is that she “spent over 100 hours this past summer working with homeless preschoolers at a local homeless shelter.” As a freshman, she wishes she had known “how good the Binz was.”

After graduation, Moran plans to attend graduate school. “I am currently applying to graduate programs in school psychology and educational leadership,” she said.
