Women’s track and field coach Joe Sweeney and junior Taylor Berg joined reporter Heidi Enninga in The Locker Room to talk about the team’s showing at the Twilight track meet Wednesday, May 2.

The St. Thomas women’s track and field’s 4-x-100 meter relay team hit its stride to win the event with a 47.32 at Wednesday’s Tommie Twilight meet in O’Shaughnessy Stadium. The Tommies also found success in hurdles, the 4-x-400 meter relay, 1,500-meter run and field events.

Junior outfielder Andy Henkemeyer’s grand slam in the seventh inning solidified the Minnesota Gophers baseball team’s 9-2 victory over No. 2-ranked St. Thomas Tuesday at Siebert Field, ending the Tommies’ program-best winning streak at 21 games. It was also the final game played at Siebert Field.

The St. Thomas softball team had 8-0 and 4-1 victories over St. Benedict’s Monday at home. The wins allowed the No. 16-ranked Tommies to secure the MIAC regular season championship and the top seed for next weekend’s conference playoffs.

Senior Mike Hutton and the women’s distance medley relay turned in strong performances for the St. Thomas track and field team at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Hutton took second out of 10 runners in Saturday’s 800-meter. The distance medley relay squad took second out of 17 teams on Friday.

Junior Dylan Thomas and sophomore Steve Maher are the top two pitchers in a rotation that has led the St. Thomas baseball team a No. 2-national ranking and No. 1-ranking in the MIAC. The pair has combined for 13 of the team’s 26 victories this season, and they are both undefeated in conference play.
