COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Saturday’s 43-21 St. Thomas victory over St. John’s was a perfect Saturday for the annual football rivalry, but law enforcement officials said drunken behavior clouded the day.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Three touchdowns from sophomore running back Ryan Toney and two TD passes from quarterback Matt O’Connell propelled sixth-ranked St. Thomas to a 43-21 victory over archrival St. John’s in Collegeville Saturday.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — Three first-half touchdowns orchestrated by Tommie sophomore quarterback Matt O’Connell propelled sixth-ranked St. Thomas to a 22-14 halftime lead.

For St. Thomas students planning to travel to the Saturday, Sept. 15 Tommie-Johnnie football game in Collegeville, Minn., social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have helped make the trip more efficient.

St. Thomas fans are getting used to the 90-minute drive to St. John’s. After hosting the game once in the last four years, the Tommies will make the trek to the annual Tommie-Johnnie game Saturday, Sept. 15.

The sixth-ranked St. Thomas football team (2-0) looks to continue its early success as it prepares to visit rival St. John’s University at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.

For the St. Thomas football team, Saturday, Sept. 15’s game against St. John’s has everything to do with preparation. For those going to the game, some St. Thomas students made sure the fans were just as prepared with game day apparel.

Anticipation for the 81st Tommie-Johnnie rivalry football game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, builds as students plan their attire and make arrangements to attend the game at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.

Senior quarterback Dakota Tracy threw five touchdown passes, three to senior receiver Fritz Waldvogel, and ran for another. Senior running back Colin Tobin rushed for two more touchdowns.

More than 10,400 fans filled O’Shaughnessy Stadium. Extra security was brought in for the event, including police officers on horses.
